Answers for impact windows and doors related questions

1. How does Impact windows and doors lower my bills?

When buying Impact resistant, both the frame and glass help you keep the house nice and cool. By maintaining the house cool the AC does not constantly turn on, which keeps your power bill lower than usual. Also once installed your insurance gives you a discount for having impact resistant windows and doors.

2. How long does it take from ordering to finish?

Once the estimate is done and we move forward it takes about 2 months max. Permitting takes about 2 weeks, window orders take about a month and a half, and installation usually takes about 3-7 days depending on the size of the project.

3. Do you charge for estimates?

Estimates and consultation are completely free.

4. How are impact windows and doors different from regular windows and doors?

Impact windows and doors have stronger, reinforced frames, but also shatter-resistant glass. The glazing in between the glass has two layers of annealed glass made of Polyvinyl Butyral (PVB). IF the glass gets hit or breaks it will not shatter, the PVB holds the glass in place so it does not fall out or leave dangerous shards.

5. Are Impact Windows and Doors Only Good for Hurricanes?

They are made to help with heavy force winds and flying debris, but they also do more than protect you from hurricanes. They also reduce risk of intruders, help block out outside noise, and insulate your home.

6. How Can I Make Sure I am Purchasing Impact Resistant Windows and Doors?

All Impact windows and doors are NOA approved by the county. Every manufacturer makes sure they deliver the windows with all approvals and window pressures, which are labeled on the window frame. If need further paperwork the NOA are public and can be sent you directly.

When you purchase impact windows and doors, you as the homeowner have the choice to pic what you like. You have many different options on color of the frame as well as color of the glass. Also, you have choices to make glass thicker and the option to change the way the doors and windows open.

8. Do I Get Insurance Discounts?

Of course! Insurances give discount to homeowners that protect their homes. Amount of the discount varies from the insurance companies. To get these credits, your whole house needs to be protected.
